There are so many quality drugstore makeup items on the shelves today, and I’m here to show you which ones are my must-haves. The formulas are just as creamy, pigmented, buildable, and blendable as the high-end brands.
Here are my top affordable drugstore makeup products that you need in your makeup bag!
Note – I’ve linked most of the items through Ulta’s website. If you shop their drugstore section, it’s a great way to earn points through their reward system and earn cash for future purchases.
Loreal Lumi Primer – I don’t use a primer on a daily basis, but when I do, this is the one I swear by. I’ve been using this for years because it gives you that perfect glow. I don’t always like my foundation to look super matte, so this will give your skin some luminosity before you apply your foundation. It makes my face makeup last longer, and goes on smoother.
Loreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation – This is the best drugstore foundation that I have found. It’s medium coverage, but is still buildable if you like a full coverage look, and doesn’t get cakey. The pro-glow version is best for normal to dry skin, and the pro-matte is more suitable for oily skin.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer – Before I discovered Tarte Shape Tape, this was my holy grail concealer. It is definitely a full coverage product. It covers all of my dark circles, discoloration, and doesn’t settle into fine lines. It makes your under eye area look so flawless when you apply it and then set it with a loose or pressed powder.
Airspun Loose Face Powder – This is the best quality drugstore face powder, and it’s so cheap! It’s only $6 and you get a lot of product so it will last a long time. Loose powder is something I will always keep in my makeup bag because it is lightweight and will set all of your makeup in place for the day. Since it is more lightweight, you won’t have that really powdery look after you apply it.
Real Techniques Powder Sponge – I cannot live without this product. I’ve used a lot of Real Techniques tools, and this is by far my favorite. You can use this sponge with loose or pressed powder – I’ve used it for both and it works wonders. Dampen it like you would a beauty blender, dip it into the product, and gently pat it on the areas that you need to set your makeup. It will make your powder set perfectly into your skin. I cannot rave about this enough.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – You’ve probably already heard about this product because it is that good. It is pigmented so you get great color payoff, just like you would with the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. It is buildable and blendable, so it’s easy to blend it out if you accidentally apply too much on one area. The best part is it’s moisturizing so it gives you more of that silky smooth feel.
Milani Baked Blush – There isn’t one shade of this blush that I don’t like. They are all gorgeous! They are super pigmented, so a little goes a long way. I like to apply dolce pink and luminoso in the warmer months, and berry amore and rose d’oro in the colder months. Some blushes don’t last very long on the skin, but I’ve found that this formula lasts for most of the day.
Loreal Lash Paradise Mascara – Although I don’t wear mascara on my top lashes anymore (lash extensions), I will always rave about this product. It is a complete dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Before I had lash extensions, I wore this every single day for as long as I can remember. It’s great at giving your lashes both volume and length, just like the Too Faced version – but for so much cheaper! You will love the way your lashes look with this product.
Pixi Lower Lash Mascara – This is by far the best lower lash mascara out there – including the high-end brands. I don’t know about you, but I always have trouble applying mascara to my lower lashes without getting it all under my eye, as well. Well this product solves that problem! It has an ultra-slim wand that separates all of your lashes, while coating each individual lash effortlessly. Using a big mascara wand on your lower lash line can be difficult, so this one does the trick.
NYX Butter Gloss – I have been using these butter glosses for YEARS, and won’t be stopping anytime soon. There are so many colors to choose from, and you can’t beat the $5 price. They glide on with ease, and don’t give you that super sticky feeling like some glosses do. They are pigmented enough to give you a really good pop of color. And I’ve noticed that they are a great buildable gloss, so if you want some more color, just add another thin layer!

The mascara is comparable to “Yes, they’re Real” brand. Thanks for the recommendation 👍🏼
