My Nighttime Skincare Routine

May 19, 2020

There is no better time to start taking care of your skin, so why not start now? I am a firm believer in always taking off your makeup at the end of the day. Trust me, your face will thank you.

Today, I will be going step-by-step with what products I use nightly. So let’s get started!

Step One – Remove Makeup

This is an item that I literally cannot live without. I discovered it a little over a year ago and have not gone a night without using it or traveling with it. It’s the Makeup Eraser. There are two sides to this wonder. The first side has short fibers, which is used to remove all of your makeup. The second side has long fibers, and is used to exfoliate the skin. Just wet the cloth in very warm water and rub the short fiber side on your face in circular motions. It will get rid of every trace of makeup on your face. I like to use the exfoliating side a couple of times a week when my face really needs it.

Step Two – Cleanse

I started to use the Purity Made Simple Cleanser when I was pregnant with Ashland, and I haven’t looked back. This is a very gentle cleanser that will not irritate your skin or eyes. I’ve had problems in the past with cleansers that dry out my skin over time, but this one is the complete opposite. It actually hydrates my skin (which can get very dry in some areas). Simply massage it on a damp face, rinse, and you are good to go.

Step Three – Scrub

Now, I don’t use a scrub every single night, but I didn’t want to leave this step out because it is very important. I use the Murad Skin Smoothing Polish two to three times a week, depending on what my skin looks like. It contains micro beads that slough off all of the dead skin. And just like cleansers, I’ve had issues with scrubs that dry out my skin. But this one has never done that. I will always notice a difference in the way my skin feels and the way my makeup looks on my skin when I use this product. A must-have for me.

Step Four – Serum

My skin has completely transformed with the use of a serum, specifically the Timeless Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum. It leaves my skin looking brighter, more even, and hydrated. It has helped me tremendously with discoloration and hyperpigmentation that was a result of some acne flare-ups during pregnancy. Even my husband can tell a difference in my skin! I like to keep mine in the fridge so the Vitamin C doesn’t oxidize or break down (the cold temperature helps to delay the oxidation process). I put one to two pumps of the serum on my fingertips and smooth it onto my skin and neck. It is not greasy at all and takes almost no time to soak into your skin.

Step Five – Moisturize

Always use a moisturizer after any serums (you want to apply your products from thinnest to thickest). A moisturizer will seal in your serum, whereas oil can penetrate moisturizers. I’ve been using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel for years. The consistency of it is my favorite feature. It is lightweight and refreshing, and you don’t have to worry about it feeling greasy on your skin. Just massage a small portion of it on your face and neck, and then I like to massage any extra on the back of my hands.

Step Six – Eye Cream

When it comes to skincare, the earlier the better – and for me, that includes an eye cream. My mom actually gave me the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Brightening Cream and I am so glad that she did. I apply it in both the morning and evening to my under eye area. It makes me look more awake in the morning by reducing the amount of puffiness, and over time, it has helped with my dark circles.

I try to keep my skincare routine fairly simple, but I think all of these steps are super important and will make a difference in the way your skin looks. Thank you so much for reading and please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions!
