Create Tousled Curls Using Only Three Products

August 3, 2020

I guess it’s true when they say you want what you don’t have. I have stick straight hair, but would rather wear it curled most days. But with two kids, I don’t have a lot of spare time. So, I’ve been able to find three hair products that make it quick and easy to create tousled curls.

So let’s get started! The first step is to section off your hair. Section it into four large sections – two lower sections and two upper sections. Always start with the lowers first.

What’s next is crucial if you want your curls to last all day. Spray each section with a light, flexible hairspray. I can always tell a difference if I don’t add in this step.

I have been using the Bumble and Bumble Spray De Mode Hairspray, which gives you a flexible, workable hold. I hate when a hairspray makes your strands feel crunchy, and this does the complete opposite. It has a very fine mist nozzle which makes using it a breeze.

Once the hairspray is in, it’s time to curl! I honestly could not tell you how long I have been using this tool. No joke, it has been that long. I’ve tried other tools in the past, but nothing has ever worked as well as the Remington Pearl Curling Wand.

This wand has lasted me for years, creates the most beautiful curls, and is just $17! What?! I am still shocked at the price point. There are two different sizes, but I prefer to use the 1-1.5 inch barrel.

I own a couple of regular curling irons (not wands), but I never use them. To me, a wand does a better job of giving you those undone, natural curls.

Each time I curl a section, I always curl it away from my face. I know some people will alternate each section, but I like the way that it all flows in one direction – just personal preference.

But make sure you don’t touch any of the curls until you are completely done and have let them cool. Now it’s time for the fun part.

Run your fingers through your hair to break up the curls so they don’t look so perfect. This is the key to giving them a more natural look. Don’t overdo this step though – just enough to break them up so they don’t look uniform.

The final step uses my favorite hair product – the Amika Volume and Texture Spray. This is a texturizing spray that gives you a matte finish. It gives you that tousled, beachy texture that is so gorgeous! I seriously cannot get enough of this product.

Lift up large sections of your hair and spray the product underneath. This will create even more volume for your hair, while giving you that tousled look. I promise you will love the way it transforms your curls.

And voila! We’re done! It’s that easy. This process takes me about 15 minutes total if my hair is freshly washed.

On the days that I don’t wash my hair, I simply touch up the curls by curling the sections that need some love. It takes barely any time at all.

Thanks for reading, y’all! As always, do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
