How to Style a Black Blazer

August 11, 2020

An item that every woman needs in her closet is a classic black blazer. It is one of the most basic staple pieces that is very versatile and can help you transition your wardrobe through each season.

Traditionally, you might think of pairing a blazer with black suit pants for work. But there are so many more options when it comes to styling it. I’ve put together three looks that I hope will inspire you to take your blazer with you to more places than just the office setting.

Spoiler alert – the blazer is just $35!

Black Blazer // Jim Beam Graphic Tee // Denim Shorts // Nude Heels // Hat

Let’s start with a more casual look. Pairing a black blazer with your favorite graphic tee gives your outfit some edge. I chose a graphic tee that is more muted with a black base color, but it would look great with any color tee that you already have in your wardrobe.

Cut-off denim shorts keep the casual vibe in check, and the hat can be worn if you want to add an extra accessory. Nude heels tie the look together if you are going out for a night on the town, but any flats or sandals would look equally as amazing.

Black Blazer // Bodysuit // Polka Dot Skirt // Nude Heels

Now let’s dress it up a bit! Pairing your black blazer with a fun, flowy skirt will give you that classic, feminine look. This midi skirt adds just the right amount of detail with the polka dot print.

Wear a black bodysuit underneath your blazer to keep the top portion of your outfit muted and monochromatic. I paired mine with some ankle-strap nude heels, but you could even add in a pair of colored heels for the perfect pop of color.

Black Blazer // White Tee // Distressed Jeans // Nude Heels // Purse

Now for a look that is perfect for transitioning into the fall season.

This simple white tee pairs so well with the blazer and distressed denim jeans. These mom jeans have some stretch and are high-waisted. You are going to want to wear them with everything, trust me.

I didn’t wear a belt for this look, but tucking in your tee allows you to wear your favorite neutral belt to add in some more detail. When it gets cooler, I will be wearing this ensemble with my cognac knee-high boots.

So, if you are looking for the next staple item to add to your wardrobe, I highly recommend this classic black blazer. You will notice that you are reaching for it constantly from your closet!
